No, Herpes Zoster ( Shingles ), and HIV are two completely different viruses. I do not know why your friend's physician advised that he get all of those tests. Perhaps there was some information in your friend's medical history that made the doctor suggest HIV testing. However, that is sufficient proof to say that your friend does NOT have HIV.
